A client of Cordery Build Ltd for over 10 years, a typical year’s turnover would be 20 new shop openings
and 10 to 15 reimage contracts. Projects often run concurrently and necessitate the need for careful
programming. An example in 2004 was projects on site simultaneously in Truro and Inverness. Often reimaging
projects are carried out in 3 to 4 days and include night working to minimise the outlet’s downtime.
In addition to the normal construction, shopfitting and joinery packages that such works involve Cordery
Build Ltd have also manufactured counters and other joinery required and exported them to Costa franchisees in
Bahrain and Portugal.
In 2008 and 2009 Cordery Build Ltd fitted out 8 permanent shops and 3 seasonal shops. Work comprised all normal
building and shopfitting trades and were completed within contracts periods of 3 weeks.
Display units and other joinery has recently also been supplied for Hotel Chocolat’s first two store openings in
the USA.
In the last four years Cordery Build Ltd were involved with 18 retail shop openings for Evans Cycles together
with fitting out works in their offices and warehousing facilities in Crawley Sussex.
Having first worked with the Thresher Group in 1995 Cordery Build Ltd have been involved in many of the company’s
rollout programs thereafter. Notable of these were a residential accommodation refurbishment programme,
general rebranding programmes, and a short lived reimage programme for incorporation of ‘grab and go deli food’
display chillers.
Additionally Cordery Build Ltd have worked with Threshers appointed building surveyors to carry out specialist
repairs and alterations and improvements to their freehold and leasehold building stock.
Cordery Build Ltd’s workshops have been involved in the direct supply of joinery items such as nurses call stations
and display shelving for various hospital new builds and refurbishments.
Additionally two site projects have been undertaken for the upgrading of staff accommodation in hospitals nearby to
the company’s head office. Such works included new kitchens, sanitary ware, heating installations,new doors and
windows and redecoration.
Cordery Build Ltd have worked on Pizza Hut projects for over 6 years. Works undertaken include new takeaway store
openings and refurbishment of existing restaurants. In 2009 a total six such restaurants were refurbished complete
with new joinery fitments, redecoration and re-imaging.
Construction and fitting out works have been carried out with Countrywide Design for a number of years,both in
partnering and joint-venture arrangements . Sixteen new apartments or houses and 11 refurbished apartments within
the curtilage of Listed Buildings have been finished in 3 sites in Godalming and a sheltered accommodation complex in
Guildford converted into 36 one-bedroom flats for sale. Typical works include replastering,new plumbing, heating,
and electrical installations together with new kitchens, bathrooms, cupboards, wardrobes and final
decoration and finishes.
Works carried out in summer holiday periods include reinstatement of fire damaged laboratories, improvements to toilet
accommodation, general repairs and planned redecoration contracts.
Projects carried out for the society include the renovation and fitting out as a head office of its first freehold
premises in Grays Inn Road London and the subsequent fitting out of its new headquarters when it relocated to Bridewell
Place some five years later.
This client operates indoor children’s play centres. Work carried out by Cordery include refurbishment of their units
in Slough and the total fitting out of their new units in Dunstable.
Cordery Build Ltd have been responsible for the fitting out or improvement of various staff restaurants where a Compass
company has held the catering contract. Working in close collaboration with the client’s interior designers the projects
have been based on a turnkey operation and include the management and installation of all final furniture and fittings.
Cordery Build Ltd have carried out refurbishment works to first and second floor residential accommodation above the
client’s High Street shops and has also been involved in schemes to enhance shop window displays.
Working in a partnering style arrangement with the client and their appointed architects, Cordery Build Ltd have fitted
out over 10 orthodontic surgeries throughout the UK. The majority of projects required substantial internal works as due
to the unusual requirements of the clients there was no stock of available premises suitable. Works varied from conversion
of Listed Buildings to fitting out of bare shell units on industrial parks. Projects are fully finished complete with
reception counters, specialist storage racking and hygienic floor and wall surfaces.
Cordery Build Ltd were responsible for the fitting out of a bare shell industrial unit of approximately 7000 ft.² into
a fully finished luxury orthodontic centre with 4 individual surgeries and a total of 10 chair positions. Works included
mechanical and electrical installations, wall plastering and finishes, specialist floor finishes and the manufacture and
supply of glass topped specialist storage units to all the surgery areas.
Works carried over a number years in the summer holiday periods include classroom extensions,planned maintenance,
kitchen renovations,new communal recreational areas and new boarding accommodation. Many of the projects were carried out
using timber framed or other prefabrication techniques with Cordery Build Ltd contracted on a Design and Build basis.
The client is a specialist veterinary referral unit in Bedfordshire. Cordery Build Ltd has been engaged on a number of
occasions to carry out works such as extension of the operating theatre areas, extension of the consulting rooms area
and creation of further general office space.
